A letter from Mike Morin, the founder of the Derry Demons

It is very hard to believe that 28 years have passed since the first season for the Derry demons.  As I look back over the teams that I have coached, many fond memories are brought back to me.

• Our first Christmas tree sale fundraiser in 1971 before we even fielded a team.
• Going in front of a Town Meeting to ask for $1,900.00 to help start our program.
• Our first Bowl game in 1976, when we traveled to Chicago to play the High Ridge Chargers (the 1975 National Champions) The Demons won the game 18 - 14.

Other exciting memories were:

• Winning the National Championship in 1977.
• Going to Bowl games in South Carolina, New York, Georgia, and Florida

Of course the secret behind all of these wonderful memories and successful seasons were and are the parents. Parents were and are the backbone of the Derry Demons. The most important thing of all to me was that the Derry Demons, win, lose, or draw were and still are always competitive, on and off the field. Please remember that Football and Cheerleading can be a lot of fun, but academics are the key to your future. As you go on in life the dicipline, dedication, respect, and hard work of being a Derry Demon will serve you well.
